14 went on the trip, 9 of us rafted. Bob "Papa Duke" Robinson standing on the far right posed for the rafting picture, but did not raft. 3 rafts, 3 in each raft. The view as we start on the Pine Creek heading for the Grand Canyon of PA.

The weather was cloudy 42 degrees with a water temperature of 35 degrees.  Whew, that is cold!  Rafters standing from right to left are: John "Instant Replay" Bielicki, Chuck "Cruise Director" Carter, Craig "Daddy Ding-Ding" Hobdell, Larry "Doctor Proctor" Hobdell, Greg "Shots" Neely, Brian "Bull Frog" Neely, Sam "Precious" Volpone, Bob "Mama Duke" Robinson - who didn't raft.  Down in front are: Steve "Redemption" Steinmacher and behind him is Rob "Soup" Robinson.

Even though it was the coldest trip in several years, the wind was minimal and we had more sunshine than clouds.

Brian "Bull Frog" Neely steers his neighbor John "Instant Replay" Bielicki and brother Greg "Shots" Neely toward the Canyon. In the distance you can see two people standing on the bank of the river. One of them is playing a banjo..... Rut Row!

One of the non-rafters, Gary "Meat Inspector" Thurstlic, commented that Brian should be named "Moose knuckle". Thanks to Brian's resonating belches, he got the nickname "Bull Frog" instead and inspired a new award to be handed out starting in 2008 - The Bull Frog Award.

For those who think we "White Water" raft...  Ha ha!  Most of the creek is this calm and moves an average of 4mph.  The people in the distance gives you a reference to how high the entrance into the Grand Canyon of PA is in elevation.

This cabin can only be reached by river. There is a paved path on the entire eastern side of the canyon for biking, hiking and horseback riding. NO CARS.

John and the Neely brothers go whizzing by in a no passing zone.  Just so happens, the Neely's are both PA State Troopers!  "Hey guys, you left your donuts back at Pine Creek Outfitters! "

The paved pathway is on top of the old railroad bed that used to connect Williamsport with Corning, NY.  Once, a long long time ago a former rafter, known as Mark "Pick Axe" Rapposelli, chose to walk the path rather than finish by raft.  Can we stress the word FORMER?

Pulled over for lunch at the halfway point and giving the canoes the river for a few minutes. Burgers, Beans, Chips and Brew!

The non rafters: Bob "Papa Duke" Robinson, Mike "Hobeen" Green, Jeff "Ankle Biter" Roberts, Gary "Meat Inspector" Thurstlic and Greg "Shots" Nolte met us at the picnic area and had everything ready to go when we got there.

We found the only access to the river by car by accident on the 2006 trip.  Now we don't have to haul all of the picnic items by raft.  We just send them with the non-rafters to the site.  YEeeeHaaAaaa!

Filet of Sole? Mike "Hobeen" Green is a master burger maker!

Rob "Soup" Robinson cooks his shoe to get his foot warm and gave the beans cooking next to his shoe a unique flavor at the same time!

A warm burger goes great with cold weather!

Cousins: Mike "Hobeen" Green and Jeff "Ankle Biter" Roberts Time to get back on the river...

It was GREAT to have Jeff back with us this year after his accident.  If it had been warmer, he would have been in one of the rafts with us.  Next year Jeff!

We have about 2 hours of river to travel yet.  The guys from Pine Creek Outfitters will meet us at the end, deflate our rafts and haul us back to our cars.  Then it's out for a warm meal in Wellsboro to celebrate another trip down the Canyon.

Land Ho! (Is it OK to use the term HO?) Larry "Dr. Proctor" wants to know why you didn't join us this year???

Forget the raft.  Forget your fellow rafter trying to get out of the raft.  Get the beer to high ground!  Priority One.

Larry "Dr. Proctor" Hobdell gives the evil eye while his brother Craig "Daddy "Ding-Ding" Hobdell checks his text messages from home.  The rest of us join the "Ho-Bells" (there's that Ho term again) for the after raft dinner in Wellsboro.  YeeeHaaaa!!!
